When you get a job, you’re bound to have a lot of calls where your coworkers will give you important details and dive into the context. You hardly want to ask the same thing 3 times, turning into a burden for them.
To help in this situation comes a free plugin for Google Chrome tl;dv, which records calls in Google Meets and Zoom. The service allows you to leave comments right during the call in a pop-up window, on which, like an anchor, you can return to the desired segment of the recording.
In addition, a text version of the call is also generated. Free version is given for a month, calls are stored in the cloud for 6 months.
⚡️ Now I am actively testing it, as I work in a radically different sphere, and I don’t want to ask my boss a question, so as not to appear a fool.
Case of use in work
Yesterday I received a call invitation from a foreign partner. We will discuss the details of a new service. My language level is quite ok. But how to write down all the necessary information and not miss anything – 🤷♀. I then pass the terms of reference to the copywriter and the rest of the team …
A colleague suggested recording the conversation on a tape recorder. By the way, they added a transcription function to the iPhone, only the app became paid. 🐊 You can record the call, but then spend time on transcription and translation.
tl;dv will help not only record the text of the call, even leave additional comments throughout the call to then navigate the text.
All in all, we have 2 hours of optimized work. 👍
